Group 1 sprinter acquired for Queensland!
In a welcome addition to the Queensland breeding ranks, Graff will relocate to Eureka Stud commencing with the 2026 breeding season.
The sire of boom three-year-old sprinter Grafterburners, already a six-time winner and earner of more than $2.1 million, Graff has made an exciting start to stud from limited numbers which also includes the two-year-old stakes performer Royal Chic.
Graff was an unbeaten two-year-old from two starts before returning at three to win the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes and place in the Group 2 Run To The Rose and the Group 1 Golden Rose behind The Autumn Sun. His next assignment saw him line up in The Everest, where he ran fifth to Redzel before running fourth, beaten less than a length, in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes behind In Her Time, and fourth again in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, beaten a length by Sunlight. After competing consistently in the most elite of Australia’s sprinting company, Graff took honours in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint before retiring to stud as a four-time winner and earner of $1,350,000.
With his first crops now showing the same precocity and toughness he displayed on the track, Graff presents as a proven sire option with genuine upside for breeders. Having already proven himself in Australia, he also attracts as an exciting Hong Kong sire prospect with twenty percent of his raced colts and geldings having been recently acquired by Hong Kong interests to prominent trainers such as John Size, James Cummings, Brett Crawford and Chris So. A producer of great physical types, Graff had multiple yearlings sell for over $100,000 this year and has an impressive fertility profile behind him.
“We are delighted to have secured an interest in Graff to stand him in partnership with Australian Boodstock. They are firm believers in the immense ability and toughness he had as a racehorse and are bullish to support him after seeing these qualities being passed onto his progeny,” said Angus McAlpine.
Standing for a fee of $9,900 inc GST with payment on live foal, Graff brings a proven and affordable QTIS sire into the ranks for Queensland breeders.
